Like its parent company, Musical.ly, TikTok is popular among teens and young adults; as of April 2019, TikTok had over 500 million users globally.

Does TikTok pay?

Does TikTok Pay
Does TikTok Pay?

As someone considering opening a TikTok account, you’re probably wondering, “How much does TikTok pay?”.”

I would say not too much. Your earnings per thousand views might range from two to four cents, depending on your following and how many views you have.

But how exactly does it work? Well, Ad rates vary depending on how many followers you have.

When I last checked (in January 2022), creators earned $0.06 – $0.09 per 1,000 views but there are other ways you can use to monetize your TikTok videos which are with sponsored Ads or with merchandise sales.

What are sponsored ads:

Sponsored ads are ads, where a company or a brand pays a TikTok content creator to advertise their product or services to their followers.

What are merchandise sales?

merchandise sales

This is the process of making your own branded products like t-shirts, hoodies, etc, with your logo or any design of your choice printed on them and selling them to your followers.

For example, you can print a t-shirt and sell it for about $10-$20 USD (depending on size).

The best part of this is that you don’t have to do the production of these materials yourself, with websites like Teespring which lets you design a product, set a price, and sell it for a certain amount you wish to.

Teespring manages the rest, such as shipping, customer service, and production. And users keep the profit!

How Can You Check Your Influence on TikTok?

With the TikTok Money Calculator, you can calculate the amount of revenue you will receive from your TikTok account.

This will be based on the number of followers you have and your level of engagement

The following tools will help:

  • Utilize the TikTok Hashtag Generator to boost your exposure and grow your TikTok following.
  • You can track how many followers you have gained over the last three months by using the TikTok Follower Growth Tracker.
  • TikTok Influencer Engagement and Earnings Calculator

It should be noted that the tools above are not official TikTok tools.

In no way are they affiliated or approved by TikTok.

These technologies have been developed to provide income-generating recommendations to influencers.

TikTok and Influencers

The brand and the influencer will have to agree on a price for recommending their product or service.

In this way, TikTok influencers and companies can collaborate without any intermediaries and without a set rate.

Influencers are paid by brand, and the amount paid to influencers varies significantly based on the conditions.

However, in most cases, one element remains consistent which is, an influencer who has both a high engagement rate and a large following, such as 10k or more, is usually paid more.

Brands have realized that it is easy to acquire followers who are of no use to anyone.

Because of this, having genuine followers who trust you and interact with your content is extremely important to them.

How to Set up Your TikTok to Start Generating Money

When you first sign up for TikTok, you’ll have to create a username, so choose something memorable (like your name) and make sure it’s easy to spell.

Your username will be your public identity on TikTok, so once it’s published, you are good to go; though you can change it later if you wish but always try to keep it consistent.

But if you’re having trouble deciding between a few different options (or simply need more guidance), here are some tips:

1. Choose a fun username

If you’re just getting started, you will be offered an option to create a username that best suits you.

This may seem like no big deal, but with so many usernames out there, you may have to seat and think of a nice name for yourself.

It should be as simple as possible to pronounce, spell, and easy to memorize, and also it should relate to you and your industry and has a little bit of flair.

keep in mind that once you post content to TikTok, it’ll be visible forever—so choose wisely!

When you use the same username on all your social media handles eg your Youtube Channel, Instagram, Twitch, Facebook, etc your followers on these platforms will be able to tell when they see your content.

2. Include an emoji😊:

Adding an emoji at the end of your username makes it stand out in search results and also helps others find you when they search for emojis.

Plus, people love emojis! Be unique: If someone else has already taken your preferred username (which is very likely), try adding an adjective or two after it—for example, funny_username instead of just funnyusername.

The more unique your handle is, the easier it will be to find later on. Don’t include anything personal: It may seem obvious, but don’t use any personally identifiable information in your username.

Even though TikTok doesn’t require you to use your real name, we still recommend keeping things anonymous for safety reasons.

And don’t worry about making up a random username—TikTok uses hashtags to connect users together based on their interests, so you’ll still be able to find people who share similar interests regardless of what their usernames are.

Just remember that since these tags aren’t verified or moderated by anyone from TikTok itself, avoid using anything explicit or potentially offensive.

3. Define your video

Your video library should not have a wide variety of videos in an attempt to please everyone.

In order to be successful on TikTok, users should create content they believe will be appealing to their target audience.

You are much more likely to succeed if you focus your efforts on a particular group of people, rather than creating random content.

4. Set up your Profile

Your profile is one of the most important aspects of TikTok, that’s because it’s public for everyone to see.

This is your “page,” where you can Basically customize your information.

Your profile should be interesting to the people who read it, so make sure it is.

Make your profile stand out by showcasing your ability and creativity.

It should be good enough to convince your target audience of reasons why they should follow your profile.

It is very important that your profile stands out amongst the crowd because it will be one of the first places that people will see you. Make it eye-catching.

5. Decide what to post and what not to post

You need to ensure that everyone who sees your profile, at first sight, knows the kind of videos you’re planning to post.

It is crucial to proceed with caution, especially if you are a typical young TikTok user.

A few thugs are misusing the TikTok application.

Make sure your profile is kept as private as possible by not posting soo much personal information, photos, and videos that may be misappropriated.

Therefore, it is advisable that you ensure the background of your photos or videos does not give out your personal information such as your location.

Getting Started with Video Content

  • The recommended aspect ratio is 1080×1920 pixels.
  • Include relevant hashtags in your videos and create a compelling description for each video.
  • Create an eye-catching thumbnail image for each video you upload.
  • Ensure your videos are in the most relevant categories.

Create content that has a consistent look and feel.

Continuity also plays a crucial role for your audience in understanding exactly what to expect from you.

  • You might want to intersperse longer videos with shorter, “slice of life” ones.

By doing this, viewers are able to get a better sense of who you are and what you have to offer.

Besides those Vlogs geared towards specific topics or your specified niche, you can also make general Vlogs.

Your channel should have a consistent look and feel across all niche-themed videos so that it develops an identity.

However, you can still accomplish this even if you’re just lip-syncing.

Most of the most popular TikTokers began lip-syncing videos in 2013.

However, the songs they picked and the way they went about making their videos are what instantly identify the videos as theirs, and the videos quickly gained notoriety.

If you are posting videos that are not musical, use your voice and style to express a story so that others can relate to them.

Each video could follow a similar concept.

Frequently connect with your target audience.

Remember to engage in conversation with your audience.

Make sure to take the time to listen to and converse with your audience.

Don’t hesitate to respond to comments on your videos from your audience.

This can appear to be a lot of effort on your part, but by reaching out to your followers you show that you care about them.

Try to go live and interact with your viewers as often as possible.

Spend time with them and share with them the areas of your life that you’re most comfortable sharing at this time.

The more people think of you and your videos in a positive light, the more they will get familiar with you and your content.

Though live music can be hard to perform, your listeners will enjoy it if you are confident in your ability to do so.

Alternatively, you can make use of your live sessions to talk about topics your audience is interested in, engage in a Q&A session, or even allow viewers to connect with you over live video.

Utilize other social media networks to promote your TikTok videos, such as Facebook and Twitter.

drive traffic to your website

This is the one area in which I fell short. But not until I figured it out.

So to get more success with your TikTok account, make sure to promote your videos on all of your other social media platforms and your blog if you have one.

if you don’t have other social media handles consider creating an account on other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

The more people who know about your work, the more they will be inclined to view and enjoy it.

It is crucial to promote your content as often as possible in order to gain more followers and be considered an influencer.

Consistently improve your product quality

Lots of people who create accounts on TikTok, begin with very little to work with in terms of budget, camera quality, and expertise.

Gradually you will improve your abilities, and as soon as you start to make money, you’ll be able to expand your budget and upgrade your equipment.

In order to be successful on TikTok, you must be able to make high-quality videos.

The ability to make high-quality videos is critical to being successful on any TikTok.

8 Proven Ways To Get More TikTok Followers and get famous

Consistently Post High-Quality Content

The number one way to get TikTok followers is to post high-quality content consistently. The more interesting, inspiring, and funny your video clips are, and whatever topic you’re talking about, you should be consistent about making great content that people want to share with their friends.

Once you have a strong audience base and people are regularly sharing your videos on TikTok or other social media platforms, it becomes easier for them to find your videos.

You will also get a higher number of new TikTok followers that subscribe by visiting your channels.

Making amazing videos is just half of what you need to do if you want TikTok followers; consistency is everything.

Uploading once a week isn’t enough to build an audience (and might even lead viewers away if they don’t feel like they’re getting regular updates).

Most successful creators update multiple times per day—some even daily—and they still get plenty of views because they always post high-quality content.

Even if you don’t create amazing videos all the time, posting something every day will keep your viewers engaged and interested in what else you have coming up. It’s also important not to give up too soon! If you create one or two good videos but don’t see any engagement at first, keep posting!

Find Your Niche

Many people struggle to stand out on TikTok because there are so many other accounts similar to theirs.

A great way to find your niche is by asking yourself What are my interests? and then doing a search of that interest within TikTok.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for or if there aren’t many users in that specific category, create your own account!

This will instantly put you at an advantage over everyone else.

Your audience will already be familiar with you and your content as soon as they click into your account.

Just make sure that your page has descriptive titles and descriptions – don’t just get creative in name only!

Think Outside the Box

It sounds cheesy to say “think outside of the box,” but you need to be creative if you want to stand out on TikTok.

It’s good to cash in on trends (more on that later), but it’s also good to try and start them.

Don’t post exactly what everyone else is posting. Think of how you can bring something new to your niche or category. Make videos that are fun to watch and people will want to share with their friends

Identify Trends and Join In on Them

Make it a habit to constantly search for new, emerging trends in your niche. Once you find one, you can hop on and jump-start your Tik Tok following by creating content around it.

As long as your idea is original and it resonates with people, there’s a good chance that you’ll start gaining followers in no time.

If you don’t come up with something unique or interesting enough to spark people’s interest, though, they probably won’t even notice your account—and that means no views or followers for you! So make sure that whatever you make is relevant to your audience.

Embrace Who You Are

On social media, it’s best to be yourself. That might sound obvious, but with so many influencers out there and pressure to push boundaries, you may be tempted to do something silly or weird just for attention.

But while it might get you more TikTok followers in a quick burst, staying true to who you are online and in real life is always going to give you better long-term results.

You’ll feel more comfortable on social media, your following will grow organically, and those that follow and interact with you will do so because they enjoy what you have to say—not because of some trend or hot new trendsetter. And isn’t that what we all want?

Accept That Your Content Won’t Be What Everyone Likes

Most of us worry that we’re not good enough or that no one will like what we have to offer. Guess what? Most of us are right.

The sooner you realize that your content won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, the sooner you can get started on improving it.

Make tweaks as they become necessary and remember that being willing to take risks is a lot easier when you aren’t worried about rejection.

If everyone likes your content, great—but getting hung up on pleasing everyone can be a major time suck and make it hard to come up with fresh ideas for new posts!

Network With Other TikTokers

TikTok is all about content creation, so by networking with other TikTokers you’ll be able to interact and engage with a wide array of people.

This opens up opportunities for collaboration as well, which can lead to more followers and likes.

Additionally, a strong network can help keep you motivated and inspired—not to mention it helps you learn new skills from others!

Don’t be afraid to reach out to others on TikTok; there are plenty of creators just like you that would love a follow or a chat.

The key is simply reaching out—and once you do that you’ll see how simple it is (and fun) to connect with like-minded people. You might even create something awesome together!

Collaborate With Brands

The best way to get followers on TikTok is by collaborating with brands. You can do brand deals, and they will pay you or give you free stuff in exchange for your help in promoting their products.

Just be sure not to do anything that violates TikTok’s terms of service, otherwise, you risk getting banned! Never beg for followers or attention.

This is super tacky and off-putting. Use hashtags like #thanks or #love as much as possible.

Fundamental rules on TikTok

There are certain expectations TikTokers have when they post videos on the platform.

Start by making sure your content does not infringe on TikTok’s content limits.

  • Videos should NOT contain hate speech or racism, or anything else that could offend viewers.
  • Beware that some adults on TikTok do things you would never dream of, so when sharing videos of yourself doing very normal activities on the app, be careful not to feed the creep’s fantasies.

Would it really be wise to publish a video of you and your friends in nighties at a slumber party?

You should always keep in mind that TikTok is a social media platform that is open to the public.

Your videos are readily available for anybody to watch.

Similar to Snapchat and IGTV, TikTok encourages users to post vertical videos.

How I found success (Real case study)

I was very lucky to find success on TikTok early on. At first, I started out making fun edits of popular songs and posting them to my profile.

It didn’t take long for other users to start commenting and following me, so I just kept doing it.

Eventually, I had around 1,000 followers and found a community of people who loved posting videos with songs in them as I did.

In no time at all, I went from making $1-2 per day to making over $100 per day. That number has since doubled and continues to grow every month.

If you want to make some extra cash on TikTok, you can do it too! Here are three steps to get you started:

Step #1: Find Your Niche.

This is critical if you want to make money with TikTok (or any social media platform).

Most people make the mistake of thinking they need millions of followers to make good money but nothing could be further from the truth.

The most successful TikTokers tend to be niche creators—those who post funny edits, funny lip-syncs, etc.—and they have anywhere between 1,000 and 5,000 followers.

They make great money because their content resonates well with their audience.

So before you even consider making money on TikTok, ask yourself: What kind of content would people pay to see? Then go make that content!

Step #2: Optimize Your Profile as mentioned previously.

Once your account is up and running, don’t forget about your profile page.

A lot of brands will skip right past your page and go straight to your videos when deciding whether or not to sponsor you but having an optimized profile makes a big difference in how much attention they’ll pay to what you’re doing.

Make sure your bio is clear and concise, use tags effectively, include links to where viewers can follow you elsewhere online, and try using emojis in your username.

For example, I used to use lil_cassie as my username but now that I’m making more money than ever before, it’s been replaced with big_money_cassie.

Emojis make me seem friendlier which makes viewers more likely to follow me.

Step #3: Make Great Content.

Don’t think of making money on TikTok as something you do after you’ve made videos; think of it as something you do while making videos.

Like any business, making money on TikTok takes a lot of work.

You need to constantly be creating new content, engaging with fans, and paying attention to trends.

It may sound daunting but if you really love making videos then it shouldn’t feel like work.

Don’t put off monetizing your account until you reach 10k followers; monetize along the way!

Remember that consistency is key; you won’t make tons of money overnight unless someone happens to stumble upon one of your videos randomly.

Instead, focus on building relationships with viewers and working hard every single day to make more awesome videos. Soon enough, those views will turn into dollars in your pocket.

Making Money on TikTok is Simple

While advertisers wait for TikTok’s advertising network to expand, the quickest way to make money on TikTok as an influencer is by signing direct commercial deals with brands and businesses.

The more well-known a brand becomes on the network, the more likely it is to contact individuals with business proposals.

If you have 10k followers or more on TikTok, you can begin to think about monetizing.

Money on TikTok is Simple

How much money can you make on TikTok with 10k followers?

Getting more followers on TikTok isn’t just about getting famous – it’s about getting paid. Without followers, you won’t be able to make money from advertisements, endorsements, or paid partnerships.

The amount of money paid for sponsored videos to an influencer varies from $200 to $20,000, depending on how famous the influencer is.

You can do the math for a TikTok with 10k followers.

But if we average everything out, then 10k followers is probably a good starting point—at least enough to generate around $200-$2000 per month in revenue depending on your niche, audience, engagement, and influence.

There are various ways an influencer can make money with TikTok, such as:

  • Company-sponsored promotion in your videos (more of influencer marketing) either directly or indirectly (for example, through unboxing videos or simply by wearing the clothing of a fashion brand in your video) is acceptable.
  • Consider promoting your promos on other platforms, for instance, if you have a popular YouTube channel, try promoting the TikTok channel on other sites to increase traffic to the YouTube channel.
  • You can use your TikTok videos to advertise your products or services
  • Streaming live videos and soliciting feedback from your audience are two of the most effective ways to market your business (formerly known as Live.ly, now known as Go Live).
